Waking and Dreaming as Simultaneous Realities

26 August 2019 - Haikou, Hainan, China

Earlier today, I had lunch with an email friend from Hainan University. After lunch she took me on the back of her electric motorbike to a shopping mall across the river from where I am staying because she (and I) wanted to go to the grocery store there. She also kind of pointed toward the location of "night market" near Hainan University. Later, I decided to walk to the night market for dinner. Crossing the big road and then the river was quite an adventure because the throng of motorbikes at this time of day share the same pathway that pedestrians use.

Being a pedestrian in the midst of these electric motorbike commuters was my first deja vu experience.
While walking, I had some deja vu feelings -- like I have been in this scene (or scenes) before in a dream(s). I thought that was interesting, but I did not think much more about it than that. My friend's directions were not very clear on how to get to the night market from the mall, but I kept looking for interesting activity and I soon found myself at the Haida (Hainan University) Night Market, which was a pretty amazing place with food on one side of a long pedestrian street and a variety of toys, cell phones, other products, and fruit, on the other side. I got a vegetarian wrinkled cheung fun (flat rice noodle) dish with cabbage and egg. Two guys next to me gave me two of their oysters, as well, and I exchanged WeChat contacts with them. I also ate some jack fruit and watermelon for desert. I then walked back.

Haida (Hainan University) Night Market
At some point, I think while walking back through the market, but I cannot really identify it exactly when it was, I found myself in both this waking reality place and in a dream reality of the same place at the same time. The waking reality was the night market as I walked and took photos and bought a bubble milk tea for 7 yuan (98c US). However, I was also acting out a sleeping dream reality version that was similar, but with different challenges -- more game like choices. As I walked further along, I moved more completely in waking reality, but I had the memory of both the previous waking reality place and the dream reality activities. I was trying to clearly remember what I had done in the dream reality part, exactly as I do when trying to remember a dream when I wake up in the middle of the night. While I do not now remember all the details, I do recall the sense that I had some choices and the ones I picked panned or spread out very well - like on some kind of curved, dark-stained, wooden track.

I felt a bit disoriented by this odd memory recall, grasping for it while also wondering how something like this could happen while I am walking and not in bed. Despite this, I found my way back to my hotel quite easily with a little help from Google Maps. I do not recall ever experiencing this before and have not (yet) heard anyone talk about this type of experience. I know (from Seth/Jane Roberts) that sleeping dream reality is actually constantly taking place and forming the basis for our waking reality experiences, and that the line between then is actually very thin. Something about tonight's experience got me right on the line, I think, and it was extremely interesting.  (Also kind of interesting is that this came the day after I had my first lucid dreams in quite awhile.)

UPDATE: 16 November 2019

I am reading The Early Session Book 2 of the Seth Material, in which Seth comments on how deja vu is the experience of two versions of myself existing and experiencing two different realities. So when I have a deja vu experience, it is because another version of myself is actually having that experience as a full reality experience. I am getting a glimpse of the experience of that other reality self, which in our time-base third dimension, we usually call past reincarnations (although they could just as easily be future reincarnations).

That is an interesting perspective to ponder on, I think.

Another channeled being, I think named Laarkmaa, says that we each have 12 selves, spread in 12 different dimensions at the same time, and, like Seth says, all of our selves influence each other based on what we learn and experience. Seth also says that we can tap into the skills and knowledge of our other dimensional selves and bring those skills and knowledge into our present dimension.
